My Take Time : Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Waterproof Mascara Review

hey beauties !!!
I have always been a fan of Silkygirl products and have raved about many of their products. See my review on Silkygirl Moisture Smooth Lipstick here, Silkygirl Gloss-On Lipcolor here, Silkygirl funky eyelights pencil here, Silkygirl Duo Eyeshadow here and tons of makeup looks using Silkygirl products.
Recently Silkygirl Malaysia gave an awesome oppurtunity to all we beauty blogger to stand a chance to be the first to receive a Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Waterproof Mascara and try it !!! I was lucky enough to be chosen !!! Thank you team Silkygirl for this lovely oppurtunity. I got these amazing goodies along.

The day after I received this mascara, I had to go out and I thought "Ok, So this is the right time to try my new Big Eye Collagen Mascara !!" Well I wore it for about 6 hours. And I spent a lot of time outdoor, in the hot and humid climate of Kuala Lumpur.

PACKAGING, PRICE and AVAILABILITY
  • It has quite a decent packaging.
  • The minty color of the tube attracts me the most. I love Mint !!!

  • As you can see the wand is thinner. So it makes it easier to apply on the lower lashes as well.
  • One quick tip : While using the product, you may notice the wand fits tightly into the mascara opening. This is actually good. Cause it avoids any air from going in and drying out the mascara fast. So here's a tip. While using it try not to pull or push the wand harshly. Just rotate it and push/pull it gently.
  • It's original price is RM22.90. But it will be available with an introductory price of RM19.90. So grab it ladies.
MY STORY
I have been using this since a few days now and I am loving it so far. I have really had some awful incidents with mascaras in future, so I am quite choosy when it comes to mascaras. The moment I applied Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Waterproof Mascara on my lashes, I was quite impressed. It did made my eyes open up just in one coat. I am quite OCD about using any false lashes or even a curler. Even a sight of someone using these freaks me out. So I get inclined towards mascaras which keeps the fullness of my lashes and accentuate it. Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Waterproof Mascara does this for me. It instantly separates my lashes and holds the curls perfectly. It doesn't smudge at all, even if I stay out for hours in Malaysia's hot climate. My lashes looks gorgeous at the end of the day.

WEIRD FACE TIME !!! errr SWATCH TIME

Eyes opened up instantly.

Lashes are long and fuller

Can see the difference clearly

Even one coat is enough
TEST TIME

Applied

Tried washing with water literally rubbed it !!

Removes neatly with makeup remover. I used Silkygirl Gentle Eyes and Lips Makeup Remover

MY VERDICT
  • Makes my lashes look full and curlier.
  • My lashes looks longer and I love it.
  • Separates the lashes perfectly.
  • Instantly opens up my eyes.
  • No clumping or smudging even when I am out in sun.
  • Lashes doesn't feel heavy at all.
  • Sweat-proof and water-proof. But easily removed by makeup remover.
  • The wand is a bit thin. So its easy for me to apply it on the lower lashes as well.
  • Affordable
  • Its going to be available at all Silkygirl counters from this OCTOBER.
I am really happy to have got my hands on this amazing tube of wonder. I mean what else can we expect from a mascara, right ? Its now my favourite and I am sure you going to love it too !!!
Eye Love Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Mascara !!!

Beginners Series : All About Foundation/Foundation Guide

hey beauties,
Welcome to my Beginner's Series. This is a section where I will share my makeup experiences and knowledge with my makeup new bees. We all learn from each other, so your valued opinions are always welcomed.
I have wrote about Makeup Musthaves here. Today its time to talk about FOUNDATIONS.
We all are not blessed with perfect looking skin. And these imperfections might makes us self concious. But now a days we can counter act these flaws by using foundations. Coverage or even out skin tone or a good base, foundations give us all of these.
Now our market has a lot of different foundations which varies by coverage, texture, etc. So today I will tell you guys about different foundations which will help you choose one for yourself.

CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO TEXTURE
Texture-wise basically foundations are classified into the following types:
  • TINTED MOISTURIZERS
    • It is exactly what the name says, "TINTED MOISTURIZER", a moisturizer with a tint/color.
    • Well if you donot need a lot of coverage, yet you want something to even out your skin tone and give your skin hydration, then this is what you need.
    • It is very light-weight and has a very less almost no coverage.
    • If you have spots and blemishes and you want to cover them up, then this is NOT for you. This is mostly for people who wants to even-out there skin tone.
    • It comes with SPF also and sometimes available in different shades.
  • BB CREAMS:
    • Blemish Balm Creams or BB Creams are the next level of tinted-moisturizers.
    • It has the moisturizing and protection of a moisturizer with coverage of a foundation.
    • It is lighter than a foundation but heavier than a tinted moisturizer.
    • The coverage is much better than tinted moisturizer but not as good as foundation.
    • If you want coverage and don't want to wear anything as heavy as foundations, then go for BB creams.
  • LIQUID FOUNDATIONS:
    • Many women including me prefer to use liquid foundations cause its easy to blend and has a smooth finish on the skin.
    • It can be used either by Fingers or Sponges or Brushes.
    • Liquid foundations are easily available in any makeup stores and any brand.
    • Liquid foundations are usually full coverage and thick.
    • This gives a nice dewy finish.
    • They come with different benifits like SPF or Oil-free and are available for different skin types.
    • These are available in a wide variety of shades.
    • But sometime Liquid foundations may irritate and break out your skin. If this happens try to choose a oil-free formula or anything specialised for oily skin women. Else can go for a powder foundation.
  • MOUSSE FOUNDATIONS :
    • Mousse foundations are liquid foundations with air in it.
    • This makes it light-weighted than liquid foundations.
    • It's smoother and more blend-able as compared to liquid foundations.
    • Mousse foundations are good for all skin types, but especially nice for those with dry or aging skin because it goes on smoothly and filling the fine lines.
  • CREAM FOUNDATIONS
    • Cream foundations has most of the benifits of a liquid foundation, like easy application, great coverage, smooth, etc.
    • Cream foundations are ideally suited for dry to extra dry skin, since most are oil-based formulations.
    • Provides a greater level of coverage than liquid foundation and long lasting.
    • I have a combination skin, and personally I am not a big fan of cream foundations. Cause they dont really absorb into my skin properly, making it all messy in summers. It breaks me out like hell as they feel very heavy on skin.
    • Cream foundations are strong enough to cover almost any imperfections. But the heavy texture can easily clog pores that can lead to breakouts and blackheads.
  • POWDER/MINERAL FOUNDATIONS :
    • It is highly suitable for beginners.
    • It's very light for the face, giving you the feel as if you're hardly wearing any foundation at all.
    • Anyhow you can always build the coverage by reapplying.
    • It's perfect for oily skin because the powder absorbs oil, effectively eliminating greasiness.
    • The only down side is that it has a drying effect so not suitable for dry skin people.
    • Always apply a moisturiser before applying it.
So here you go guys, these are some of my foundation tips. Hope this post is helpful to you lovelies.

My Take Time : Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint in Amused

hey beauties. Recently I got a prize in a Makeup Challenge in "Beauty is Flirty ! What You Think ?" facebook group.

I finally received my prize and it's an amazing. Its a Tarte LipSurgence in Amused

MY VERDICT

Applied with out any Lipbalm

  • I really love the packaging. It is a "lip tint" in a pencil form. The bottom of the pencil twists up like a lipbalm so it never needs to be sharpened.
  • Its compact casing and tight cap makes it easier for me to carry it in my purse.
  • The moment you apply it on your lips, you can feel a refreshing mint smell and taste as it is infused with peppermint oil. But it doesn't feel tingling on lips.
  • It gives a nice tint of a lovely berry-fuchsia shade on lips.
  • The very moment I used this LipSurgence, I noticed that my lips felt very moisturized, soft, silky, creamy and luxurious.
  • It has a great stay on power. The tint is not transferable(means if you drink some coffee the shade doesn't transfer to the cup). This makes the tint to stay on for quite a long time. Tried for 5hours.
  • I am totally in love with the color pay-off. It is neither too obvious like a lipstick nor too sheer like a gloss. Its right in the middle.
  • I carry it with me even when I apply other lipsticks. When my lipcolor fades, I apply my LipSurgence and it moisturizes my lips with a lovely flush of color.
  • The main thing that I love is its non-sticky.
  • I am not sure about the price as I got it as a prize. But you can get the details at  http://tartecosmetics.com/
P.S. If you guys are interested to buy Tarte Products, you can always contact my friend Ms Lilian via Beauty is Flirty ! What You Think ? facebook group or you can email her at lilianhii79@gmail.com. She has a Tarte spree ones a month !!! So don't miss this chance :)

I hope you guys found my review helpful. I am totally addicted to my Tarte LipSurgence in Amused !!!

Beginners Series : Makeup Must Haves

hey beauties.....

Many girls love makeup and want to own their makeup collection. But as a beginner its always confusing for someone to buy the needed stuffs when the market is overflowing with a gazillion products.

So I thought starting a new series exclusively for BEGINNERS. Here we all will talk about the Beginner's needs and queries.

Lets start this by discussing with you guys the must have items which any beginner should own.

Before going into makeup must haves I want to just write a bit about some basic essential Skincare stuffs (not for treating any specific skin problem)

  • CLEANSER : Will you ever want to draw on a dirty canvas !!! The same reason goes here. A clean face with give a good base for the products you are going to apply and will not cause any skin problems.
  • MOISTURISER : There are different types of moisturisers available in the market. Eg. for specific skin type, with spf, tinted moisturisers (with some color/coverage), etc. You can pick one for your need and apply it all over your face before starting to apply any makeup.
Now lets start with the makeup !!!

FOR FACE and CHEEKS
  • FOUNDATION/TINTED MOISTURISER : Many of us have uneven and blemished skin. So foundation evens out your skin tone and gives a perfect coverage. Again there are different types of foundations available in the market depending upon the type of coverage they give and the texture. You can choose a foundation according to your requirement. Remember to always try out a foundation shade and texture before purchasing cause if it does not match your skin tone, you going to end up looking horrible.
  • CONCEALER : Concealers are for those extra coverage and are important to hide your flaws perfectly. If you have dark circles or spots or scars you can use a concealer to hide it. Always try a concealer shade before buying. A concealer should either match your skin or a bit light but never should be darker or very lighter than your skin tone. If you have a perfect skin, you can still use it for brightening the under eye area.
  • PRESSED POWDER : After using all these liquid or cream it is very important to set it all. So a pressed powder sets all on to the face. It also helps get rid of oiliness and helps to hold the foundation and concealer in place.
  • BLUSH : It gives a glow to your cheeks. You can choose any shade you are comfortable with. For beginners a PINK/PEACH shade is must.
FOR EYES
  • PRIMER/BASE: It is very important to give a base to the eyeshadow to hold on to. Primers not only gives that base but also helps the eyeshadow color to pop up a lot more.
  • EYESHADOW: The three basic eyeshadows for beginners are...
    • Pearly white : This shade is very good for highlighting and also can be used as a lid color. Apply a tiny bit of it on the inner corner of the eye for instantly brightening.
    • Beige or Nude or Champagne: Used to apply all over the lid. Even if you don't want to do a full eye makeup, still this shade with give a nice flush of color on your lid without making it all flat and blank.
    • Matte Black : It is a great shade to smoke out a look by applying it on the outer V or outer 1/3 of the eye and blending it with the eye lid color. It can also can be used as liner.
    • You can go for a neutral eye palette. There are lot of them in the market. Its grt for every day look and is risk free. You can never go wrong with nude shades.
  • EYELINER: You can go for black and brown. Black for intense look and brown for kind of a subtle look. You can either go for liquid liner or pencils. In my opinion liquid liners are a hassle to apply for beginners, so better go for pencil liners.
  • MASCARA: I love mascaras. It opens up your eyes. If you dont want to apply any eye makeup, then just apply coats of mascara, it will instantly glamorise your look.
FOR LIPS
  • LIP BALM/CHAPSTICK: Well its always necessary to moisturise your lips. Now a days you may find lots of brands coming out with tinted lip balms, with this you can moisturise your lips with a tint of color.
  • LIPSTICK: There are tons and tons of shades in the market. For me the three basic color for starting a collection is NUDE, PINK/BERRY and RED.
  • LIPGLOSS: It adds on a glow to the lips. I dont wear it all time though, but many girls swear by lipgloss and prefer to wear it alone too.
Now after all these makeup stuffs on your face, you need a MAKEUP REMOVER.
Never ever forget to remove your makeup at night. Remove your makeup, cleanse your face and apply some moisturiser before going to bed.

I know there are so many other products but in my opinion these are the most essential products for starters. Do comment below and give suggestions !!!

There will be a detailed discussion of each and every section in my subsequent post, so stay tuned....

Thanks for Reading !!!
